The Past Play visit provides a fun opportunity to explore the fascinating subject of toys and games. Children will investigate a wide range of both replica and real toys and games. The session can be a full day from 10am to 2pm, or a half day running from 10am to 12 pm or 12pm to 2pm.

Both sessions will allow the children time to focus on a different aspect of the topic such as board games and card games, moving toys, children's books, and games of skill, puppets, doll 's house and the toy theatre.

Children will use the experience to:

  • Find out how toys / games are sorted into different types.
  • What they are made from.
  • Which games would have been played over 100 years ago or less than 50 years ago.
  • How to use them.
  • Who used them.
  • Which were most or least expensive.
  • What has stayed the same over time and what has changed.

Past Play can be also be done as a shorter hour-long outreach session in your school with a selection of the items from the Toy Box In Time. Two of the same fun, 'hands-on' sessions can take place on the same day in your classroom for the same price as just one. We will get to your venue for 10.00am and will leave by 2.00pm.

To ensure your place is booked with us; first check the availability with the Learning Supervisor, Joanne Mair.  Once you have made a provisional booking and completed and returned the booking form to Cannon Hall we will confirm your place.
