Penistone District Market

Penistone's fantastic new market is rapidly taking shape.  The project reflects the architecture and materials of the area whilst creating a distinctive new building for the historic market town.  The bespoke hand built structure is one of the largest that timber frame specialists Carpenter Oak has worked on and will have a huge impact on the town.  The oak frame will mellow over the years to a gentle silver grey and will feature heritage stone-coloured roof tiles and traditional dry stone walls.  The structure will be a fabulous setting for a modern rural Market.  Penistone market will be a unique shopping experience combining traditional values with a vibrant and friendly atmosphere.

Trading will start in October 2010 when the traditional Thursday market will move into its new home.  The farmers market will run one Saturday per month and it's hoped that this will be extended with regular Saturday food markets and Crafts and Antiques on a Sundays.  In addition Christmas, Valentines and Mothers and Fathers Day specialist markets are planned for the future.
