Barnsley Arts & Museums service has fantastic volunteering opportunities for members of the community who want to get more involved.

A whole range of options are available from helping with housekeeping, assisting at large scale events, working in the gardens, or telling visitors the fascinating stories about our special venues during their visit.

Behind the scenes, there are opportunities for volunteers to become involved in collections research ranging from fine and decorative art to social and industrial history and archaeology.  Volunteers can also learn how to interpret the collections through exhibitions, online resources and talking to visitors in our galleries and on our sites.

There are also opportunities to get involved in projects - at the moment for example we have two Heritage Lottery Fund projects running at Worsbrough Mill Museum and on the Newcomen Engine at Elsecar Heritage Centre - visit the site pages for more details. For more information on all our opportunities please email us and we will put you in touch with the best person to talk to.

We look forward to hearing from you.
