Event Overview

Journeys Exhibition

Take a journey around the world at the Cooper Gallery from Saturday 28 January as the launch of the new exhibition begins.

Explore the journeys taken by artists to different countries around the world and the paintings created from their travels.

A number of artists would have travelled to Western Europe as part of their training as art students. Italy and France were popular destinations, providing an array of beautiful views as well as the opportunity to learn from the masters.  Take your own tour of these places in our exhibition, and venture off the beaten track to Egypt or Bermuda!

Popular and famous artists such as Frederick Lord Leighton and John Ruskin are included, alongside lesser known painters who have also encapsulated a feeling or atmosphere of a particular place.

The exhibition forms part of the Sky's the Limit programme and the paintings are from the permanent fine art collection of the Trustees of the Cooper Gallery.  The exhibition is open in the Fox Wing of the gallery.
