The All Barnsley Diversity Festival is now on its 8th year and is Barnsley's landmark event within its cultural calendar. Celebrating the communities and individual cultures that live in Barnsley through a high quality programme of professional and community arts activities, this year's festival will highlight health equality and well being and includes the following key events:
Held: This exhibition explores the theme of how we can care for ourselves and keep mentally and physically well.
ONEINFOUR will take place on Cheapside, launching Barnsley's World Mental Health Day activities and will aim to raise awareness of the fact that 1 in 4 adults will at some point experience problems due to poor mental health.
Barnsley Town Centre will be hosting the Continental Market from Thursday 23 to Sunday 26 September climaxing with the ever popular Taste of Cultural Diversity a social event with live music, dance and creative activities for the whole family.
Each year the festival boasts a wealth of opportunities to spectate, participate and sample arts activity for people of all ages, nationalities, backgrounds and interests including a range of workshops and performances by Cross the Sky Theatre Company, Earth Shadow Theatre, In the Boat Band, Babbling Vagabonds, Mind the Gap, Anjali Dance Company and comedy from the dangerously funny Laurence Clark.
Celebrating Black History month on the 15 October The Civic will host Mpumelelo Paul Grootboom's Welcome to Rocksburg an original South African 'Action play'.
The festival will launch on Sunday 5 September with Barnsley's Got Pride, Barnsley's second Gay Pride event.
